Healthy Community Health Centers (HCHC) will host its annual Children’s Health Day on Saturday, August 13, from 9 am – 12 pm at HCHC Stone Port, located at 1380 Little Sorrell Drive, off Port Republic Road in Harrisonburg. This free community event is filled with health education and interactive activities, including games, face painting, the Gus Bus, “touch-a-truck” with Rockingham County Sheriff and Harrisonburg Fire Department, and more.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded a $671,611 grant to HCHC to expand medical and dental services.
The grant monies will allow HCHC Park View to move into a new location on the VMRC campus. Larger and more accessible to the community, the new clinic space will include the addition of a dental clinic, providing double the patient access to dental services. The expanded clinic space will also accommodate three full-time medical providers and a full-time behavioral health provider.

In recognition of National HIV Testing Day (June 27), HCHC Care Management is sponsoring a free HIV testing and awareness event called “Get the Scoop on Your Status” on Thursday, June 24, from 1 – 4 p.m.
The event will take place in the Wells Fargo Parking Lot on the corner of Market St. and Mason St. in downtown Harrisonburg. Enjoy Smiley’s Ice Cream, pick up some cool swag, and have the option to learn your HIV status.

On October 12, Harrisonburg Community Health Center will be rebranding all locations to HCHC, which will stand for Healthy Community Health Centers, coinciding with the grand opening of the HCHC Pharmacy. The new name and fresh logo reflect the expansion of those HCHC serves beyond the city of Harrisonburg along with access to more robust services centered on a holistic approach to healthcare.
